Blue House

A foggy street corner at blue hour, rebuilt from the atmosphere of a painting.

About this piece

Chasing a mood, not a composition.

The starting point was a painting whose atmosphere stuck: cold blue fog swallowing the upper floors of a narrow building, while warm windows and paper lanterns hold the street level together. The aim was to rebuild that feeling in 3D rather than copy the painting frame by frame.

It also served as a hands-on study of a USD-based workflow: scene assembly and lighting in Solaris, rendering in Karma, and a light composite to finish. The work here is the light, the render and the comp.
